From Scratch

I'd Forgotten how hard it is to start a corp from scratch, I have been a CEO for about 5 years. but once i secured my core 10 players or so, we never had trouble. Its getting that first few that is the real challenge.

Of course the thought has occurred to be, being that I have six accounts, that I could artificially inflate my numbers, but I have decided to make a stand on the subject. I'm ok with waiting a little longer, or even failing all together, but at least I wont feel like I tricked the people who ARE interested in joining such an interesting project as THIS

That being said, we are now advertising in the corp advert section, looking forward to the new changes to that system in Retribution. Spamming ad's in the Corp Recruitment section and doing the things that corps do to attract attention to themselves, so we hope for the best.

Had some low SP players join the fray last night, they are of course Alts for much more experienced players, one of them was a cyno alt that isn't seeing a lot of use ... had a blast flying around in Kestrel's. I'm confident in the project, i know there are people out there who want the chance to log in and fight without consequences. Eve is a game of Risk and Reward, Action and Consequence, but sometimes you just want to play, and until now, short of High sec ganking or other nefarious activities to find fights, Its hard to commit less than two hours to finding a GF. I for one am grateful to have a character I can fight with and not have to worry about my killboard statistics.

See you on the Battle field
o/ Just keep flying

Scaling Combat

How the corp works is a frequently asked question:

It works out like this, The members of the rival corps are each given a home base, the how's and wear's are no important for this conversation, so I will save space and text lines by leaving that to another post.  The point is that each side of the conflict has a separate staging area or (HQ) once both sides have arrived, Skirmish Mode is Active, meaning that members of each , should spend any time they like in the constellation, targets will be visible in the BATTLE FORGED joint operations channel, so you will never be wasting your time looking for targets who are not online.

During Skirmish mode, expect alot of solo and 2-5 man gang combat. fit a ship accordingly and remember during a war the only rules are apply are that of security of the system (no bubbles :( etc. ) and you are free to go guns a-blazing as much as you like. no one is keeping score here. well maybe a little.

Events Mode is activated as part of an organized combat effort, it involves scenarios that must be completed, the aggressor defender of these scenarios are factored in a number of ways, again, I wont waste too much space here, but the EVENTS have a significant impact on how the FINALE will be operated. there may be any number of events in the current story line, but they will all be made well available and ahead of time to ensure that they are as fun and active as possible.

Once the EVENTS are completed, they culminate in a FINALE, as big a battle as can be mustered, again, plenty of notice (weeks) to ensure all of our members are made aware and to get accurate head counts. but the FINALE has a theme and factors based on the EVENTS and their outcomes.

an example:
This operation is based in Gedur Constellation
Arlulf, Brundakur, Stirht, Illuin, Nedegulf, Aldilur, Alf, Abrat (.WAR-HQ), Orgron (-BATHQ)
Skirmish mode - ACTIVE
Event Mode -Re-enforced,(WAR) Supply Drop(BAT), Mobile HQ
Finale- PENDING

In this example, the battle is in its maturity, with 2 major events completed, The first was defendors, BAT, had to bring a fleet of frigates into the engagement Zone, the only rules were the containment rules for the constellation, War effectively destroyed the frigate force, denying BAT the re-enforcements for the story line.

In supply drop, a WAR hauler needed to pick up a limited time contract package and deliver it to the front line stations, success would have meant significant changs in the Finale, the hauler was destroyed.

Mobile HQ is the last chance to influence the Finale, Both teams field a Mobile HQ of choice to a safe spot in the engagement zone, the last one standing wins. (large fleet engagement if possible)

The Finale- will be the final battle between the sides before moving constellations, one side retreats to the next constellation, the victors move their base forward.

How do we fill the niche?

You may be asking yourself many questions about how BATTLE-FORGED can solve your Casual PvP needs better than other avenue's in eve. For example the folks over at  http://rvbeve.com have been running a controlled war for several years now, and quite successfully/ Their setup is larger, and lends itself to larger warfare, where we want to focus on the more casual story driven combat experience.

Here is how i compare the Battle-Forged Community , and the needs fulfilled in other current more mainstream game play groups.
I am a busy man, full time career, three children and wife with (not busy, but full schedule) some weeks i can only get on to eve, very casually, like 0-3 hours every other day, but i average a pretty consistent 2 hours a day, if i stay up when the wife goes to bed, which i do. I have 5 and 6 year old eve toons, these characters are long time vets, i have been playing a while now, so money, resources and game style are not things I am lacking. one of my characters (the oldest) is a jack of all trades, pretty skillled at just about everything, but not particularily special at anything. lots of industry, science, combat n stuff, flys caps, but only one race, does reasearch for all kids of stufff and invents alot. The other is a combat vet, highly specialized, a very specific set of skills.

What am i to do in my 2 hours of time?

Living in Zero: things either happen to fast for a casual player, or too slow, for weeks at a time there will be nothing to do but rat and mine... (not why i play eve) or grind money in some other way. OR there is a constant barrage of CTA's space invasions, endless blobs and raging epeen sov warfare 24 7 for 3 months straight. That is well and good for those of you that are hardcore, and have the time to commit but the sheer logistics of keeping my characters in the right region, let alone the system, when i play 2 hours a day,. is enough to send me back to empire till the war ends. Its fun, but its not Casual, and don't anyone who is holding sov say otherwise.

Life in Low: Sure, lowsec has a certain appeal to the casual pvp'er the problem is different than in null, in low sec you have problems with logistics, if you are not willing to pay out your nose for ships and fits, then you can keep it up for a little while, but frankly, people with the same dedication as those in null are in around in low, they are commited to controlling, and enforcing their space, they have hugeish blobs that bounce around or are at least encountered frequently in 10-25 man groups. So much so that the casual pvp'er would be mad to fit anything big and slow, restricting all the good fights to frigates, cruisers and occasional bc's (casual , but not fun)

FW- faction warfare is like life in low sec, but in blobs, if you join the FW in a corp of 1-5 people you will either always just miss the fight, or get rolled over by the enemy fleet. there is some good stuff going on in FW, but it isn't any more casual than low sec roaming, or wormhole excursions, you have to work hard at it ,and 2 hours is barely enough time to get you to where your heading in back. Its saving grace here is that the systems don't change, you can always have ships in the nearby systems and it will keep your logistics safe and happy.(Fun , but not very casual)

No, casual pvp is hard to find, most of us have had to find it in the griefing industry. there is a good chance to find a jet can miner inside 4 jumps of wherever you logged off in empire, and a 50% chance the guy will shoot at you if you do it. Mission salvaging, can flipping, hauler bashing, hulkageddon, these are all an outlet for this Niche. but not what i want to do with my time, i just want the shooting. losing a ship, is better than spinning it.

We don't want to claim sov, and have to deal with that, we don't want to have to sweat over logistics, spin ships while we wait for blue's to jump stuff around with capitals or freighters, we don't want to have to log on just to babysit alarm clocks or owe allegiance to people we cant actually support with our time. We just want fun, significant PVP.
